Which Alexa device is best?

Alexa is the brain behind Amazon’s popular line of smart speakers. It’s a smart AI assistant that can help you with a number of things, from playing music to accessing your calendar. Amazon Echo Dot

If you’re looking for an Alexa device that fits in with your decor, the Amazon Echo Dot is the best choice. It’s small enough to be unobtrusive, but still packs the same power as its larger siblings. If you have a kitchen or bedroom that could use some smarts, this might be your best bet.

If you want to give Alexa a try without spending too much money, this is also an excellent option–you’ll get all of the same features as other models for half the price! Amazon Echo Plus

The Amazon Echo Plus is a smart home hub that can be used as a controller, but it’s not an ideal choice for this purpose.

The main reason to use the Echo Plus as a smart home hub is if you want to control other devices with your voice and don’t have another device that supports Zigbee or Z-Wave. The only other option from Amazon is its Tap speaker, which doesn’t have any compatible devices at all–it only works with Bluetooth speakers or headphones (and even then only when connected via aux cable).

If you do have another compatible product, we recommend using that instead of relying on the Echo Plus’ built-in functionality.

Amazon Echo Show

Display. The Echo Show has a 7-inch touchscreen, which is much larger than the 5-inch screen on the Echo Spot and other Alexa devices. While you can’t use it to watch streaming video or play games like you can with an Amazon Fire TV Stick or Fire TV, it does allow for some additional functionality. For example, you can ask Alexa to show recipe instructions while cooking, or request a weather report before leaving home in the morning.
Video calling. You can also make video calls through this device if both parties have an Echo Show or compatible smartphone (such as those made by Huawei). Just say “Alexa–make a call” followed by their name; when they answer they’ll hear your voice coming through their speaker rather than just seeing your face onscreen like with FaceTime/Skype calls–and vice versa when they call back!

The Amazon Echo Show is the best Alexa device for those who want to be able to see what they’re asking their assistant to do. It’s a great choice if you have multiple rooms in your home and want Alexa to be part of them all, or if you just want some visual feedback from time to time (like when she’s playing music).

The Echo Plus is also worth considering if you have an older model; it includes a built-in smart hub that lets you connect additional devices like lights or thermostats without needing another hub like Wink or SmartThings. If having this option matters more than having access to video chat features on top of everything else, then go with this device instead of its Show counterpart–but otherwise stick with either one depending on whether video input matters most.
