A WiFi camera is a great way to keep an eye on your home, but if you want to install it, you need to know what equipment and steps you need. We’ll cover everything from finding the best location for your camera to mounting it on the wall and configuring it with your mobile device or browser.
Find the location.
- Find the location.
- Ensure that the location is safe, and that it’s high enough to see everything you want to see. You don’t want your WiFi camera mounted in a dangerous spot where it could fall or be damaged. Also make sure that you’re not mounting your WiFi camera too high up; if you can’t see what’s going on in real time, then there’s no point having one at all! On the other hand, if your WiFi camera is too low down (or if there are tall trees obscuring its view), then it might be difficult for someone who doesn’t know what they’re looking at–like my wife–to understand what they’re looking at when they look at footage from our new system later on.
Determine the best location for your camera.
The first step to installing your WiFi camera is to choose the best location for it. You’ll want to think about where you will be able to access the camera and how far away from that location you need it to be. For example, if you have multiple floors of a house or business, it may be easier for someone else in charge of monitoring the footage on their phone if they can see all areas from one location rather than having multiple cameras hooked up at different places around the building.
Also consider whether there are any obstacles in between where your camera will be located and where it needs to show its view (such as walls or other objects). If so, consider what angle would give them better visibility without being blocked out by something else nearby–this might mean placing two cameras side by side instead of just one!
Mount the camera and plug in power supply.
Mount the camera and plug in power supply.
- Mount the camera on a wall or ceiling, depending on your preference. Make sure that there’s no obstructions between your router and where you want to mount it so that there’s a strong signal for both sending and receiving data.
- Plug in the power supply, which will also be connected with an Ethernet cable (if it has one) or wirelessly if not using an Ethernet cable. Some cameras have built-in batteries as well, but these tend to drain quickly if left uncharged for too long; therefore, we recommend plugging them directly into an outlet instead of relying entirely on battery life for now until you’re more familiar with how often they need charging or replacement batteries before moving forward with this option later down the road once everything else has been set up properly first!
Connect to WiFi network.
Once you’ve connected the camera to a power source and turned it on, it will automatically search for wireless networks.
If you’re using an iPhone or iPad, open the iSecurity+ app from your home screen and tap on WiFi Settings in the bottom left corner of the screen. Select your network from the list (it should be at or near the top) then enter its password when prompted. You can also use this method if you’re connecting through a browser on Mac OS X or Windows 10: just type in ‘mywirelessrouter’ as both SSID and password when prompted by AirPort Utility software during installation of your new router!
Once connected to WiFi, log into iSecurity+. From there select Camera Setup > Add New Camera(s) > Scan QR Code(s). A QR code will appear on each camera–just scan it with your device’s camera app (or enter manually if necessary).
Configure camera settings using mobile app or browser.
Connect the camera to a power source and connect to your home WiFi network.
- Open the app or browser of your choice, which will be used to configure settings for this camera. This can be done on any device with a web browser (computer, tablet, phone).
- After connecting to the camera’s WiFi network go into its settings menu by clicking on “configure” in the upper right corner of most screens within our app (or by clicking on “settings” at the bottom of this guide). You’ll see three main sections: Motion Detection, Night Vision & Privacy Masking; each with their own options that allow you see how they work together as well as customize for your needs!
There are several ways you can install a WiFi camera, but they all require some basic steps and equipment like a ladder, drill, screwdriver and level.
There are several ways you can install a WiFi camera, but they all require some basic steps and equipment like a ladder, drill, screwdriver and level.
To begin with, you’ll want to find the right spot for your camera. You should place it in an area that is high enough to capture what you need while still being low enough not to be obstructed by other objects or people standing nearby. After finding the perfect spot on your wall or ceiling (or wherever else), use a pencil or pen to mark where each hole will go so they match up with those on your mount when it comes time for installation.
Next step: drilling! Now that we’ve got our marks down on paper we can start drilling holes through which we’ll later insert screws into studs behind drywall/plasterboard walls (if present) so as not damage them once we get down into them later on when attaching our mounts’ bases onto studs themselves through these smaller openings made earlier today during our initial planning stage before deciding upon which type(s) of mounts would work best given both cost considerations vs durability needs vs aesthetic preferences etcetera…
Now that you know how to install a WiFi camera, it’s time to get started! Remember that the most important thing is to take your time and make sure everything is done correctly. If something doesn’t seem right or if there are any loose wires hanging around after installing your new security system, don’t hesitate to contact us at 800-555-0123. We would love hear from you!
