The Alexa app is a great way to keep track of all your devices, but it can be complicated. If you have a lot of smart home devices or have multiple routines, it can be hard to find what you’re looking for. That’s where routines come in! They’re like presets for all the actions that happen on your Alexa devices at once, so all you need to do is say “Alexa, start my morning routine” or “Alexa, turn off my bedroom lights” and everything will happen automatically.

Open the Alexa app on your phone, then select ‘Smart Home’.

To get started, open the Alexa app on your phone, then select ‘Smart Home.’ You’ll be taken to a menu with options for each of your devices. Choose Routines and tap on the + button at the top right corner of your screen.

You can now name this routine and choose which device(s) it applies to–for instance, if you want certain lights turned off when you go to bed but not others. Tap Save when finished!

Scroll down and tap ‘Routines’.

To set up routines, open the Alexa app on your phone and select Smart Home.

Scroll down and tap Routines. Then, follow these steps:

  • Select Add a new routine.
  • Choose what you want to do (e.g., turn on your lights).
  • Choose when you want to do it (e.g., at 6am every day).

Select ‘Add a new routine’.

You can create multiple routines, and add more than one device to each routine. For example, if you have an Alexa-enabled device in your kitchen and another in your bedroom, you can create a new routine that includes both devices. This way, when it’s time to turn off the lights at night or wake up with music playing in the morning, all of your devices will respond at once.

If you want even more control over which devices respond when–and where–you use them, routines allow for granular scheduling by day of week (e.g., Monday through Friday) or time of year (e.g., Christmas). You can even set up specific events within those parameters (e.,g., holidays like Easter).

Choose what you want to do (e.g. turn on your lights), and when you want to do it (e.g. at 6am every day).

Choose the device and action you want to control.

  • Select the Alexa-enabled device you want to control, such as your smart lights or thermostat.
  • Choose an action for that device: turn on/off, dim/brighten, change color temperature and more!

Choose when you want your routine to run (e.g., at 6am every day). You can also set up multiple routines that run at different times of day or on different days of the week if needed–for example one might turn on your lights in the morning while another turns them off at night…or something else entirely!

You can also choose which device(s) will be involved, such as a smart plug or smart-home devices like plugs, switches and dimmers.

You can choose which device(s) will be involved, such as a smart plug or smart-home devices like plugs, switches and dimmers. You can also select the room where you want to use the routine. For example: “Alexa, turn on my kitchen lights.”

You can create routines based on time (for example “Good morning!”), location (like when you walk into your office) or even when something else happens (like when your doorbell rings).

Routines are a great way to keep track of everything you have to do in one place so you don’t forget anything!

Routines are a great way to keep track of everything you have to do in one place so you don’t forget anything! You can set up multiple routines for multiple devices, or even specific times of the day. For example: I have a “Good Morning” routine that turns on my lights and opens my blinds at 7:30am every morning.

With all the different things you can do with Alexa, it can be hard to keep track of everything. That’s why we love routines–they let you set up a number of different actions in one place so that they all happen at once. You can even set up multiple routines that run at different times throughout the day or week so they don’t overlap with each other!
